LUX series by Hrant Khachatryan

On a cold winter day, nearly 30 years ago, a 9 magnitude earthquake destroyed cities and small villages in Armenia. In between the half destroyed buildings there still stands the oldest barbershop of Gyumri named “Lux”. The salon was first opened in 1941 and has not closed its doors neither during World War II nor today. This wouldn't be possible without barbers and their dedication to the work they do. Coming to the salon every day no matter what and working so hard to pay the bills and keep their second home alive.

I’ve become obsessed with the idea of visiting and documenting their unique story. The atmosphere here smacks you in the face from the moment you enter the premises.

Benefits for collectors:

The first collector will receive a full size print of the NFT.

When the collection is sold out, I will donate 30% of profits from the sales to the barbershop to cover basic needs like hot water, changing broken equipment etc. as it had been only renewed once in 1986.
